Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will produce a Netflix romance movie



After a string of critically acclaimed productions since leaving the royal family in 2020 after growing weary of royal life, the couple will produce a new Netflix romance based on the New York Times bestselling book Meet Me at the Lake, with a release date that has yet to be announced.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's media company, Archewell Productions, has acquired the rights to the bestselling novel "Meet Me at the Lake" and will collaborate with Netflix to create a film adaptation. The novel, written by Carley Fortune, tells the story of a couple who meet and fall in love within 24 hours but are separated. They promise to meet again a year later, but it takes another decade for their paths to cross once more. While the story does not revolve around royalty, the main characters share similarities with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, such as the setting in Toronto, where Markle filmed "Suits," and themes of postpartum depression and parental loss.
