John Dramani Mahama accuses BoG governor of concealing mismanagement through Debt Exchange

Former President John Dramani Mahama has brought to light  that the governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG) is hiding his alleged mismanagement of the central bank by using the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP). This comes after the BoG revealed that the government's domestic debt restructuring operations accounted for a large percentage of the GH60 billion losses recorded in the 2022 financial results, amounting to GH53.1 billion. The BoG highlighted that the DDE, which was part of the IMF program's corrective plan, did not achieve its original goal of lowering the government debt to GDP ratio.
